New AMD APU for thin and light has serious muscle

Posted: May 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

AMD’s latest APU, packs up to 4 cores and a Radeon 7000 chip on it’s silicon.

Why is this so important? Because today’s apps don’t use the x86 and x64 instruction sets to their full potential.

More and more apps we use every day can have their performance increase by a higher percentage than a faster CPU alone can.

We’ve already seen the first of these chips last year with 4 cores and Radeon 6000 parts,, but this year AMD has made them faster, thinner, cooler and less power hungry than before.

It remains to be seen if Intel’s Ultrabook platform runs cooler, longer or faster, but with AMDs proven accelerated graphics helping out multimedia heavy/intense apps and HD playback AMD is back in the game.

Heck, parts of Windows 8 and IE 10 take advantage of the AMD Radeon out of the box!
